Minutes of Annual General Meeting of the above Association held in Thorpe Primary School

on Tuesday 7^th October 2008 at 7pm

The Chairman, Mr. Ken Thompson, opened by thanking residents for coming to the meeting and introduced our guests, Mr. and Mrs Matthew Dalton, our local West Ward Peterborough Councillors; PC Mike Jackman and PCSO Louise Waldron, Cambridge Constabulary.  Mr. Allen Keeley, Brookfield Construction Director, Mrs. Christine Hawke, NNA Website Master.

Mrs. Hawke was thanked for her pro activity and diligence in producing our Website.

The Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held in October 2007, copy of which had been placed on each chair, were read through item by item by item by the Chairman. (copy on file).

There were no matters arising from the above Minutes which were then accepted as a true record of transacted business and the Chairman was authorised, by show of hands, to sign the Minutes.

The Secretary Report (copy on file) which had been previously placed upon each chair was read through paragraph by paragraph with a silent period for questions and answers or for either additional information or clarification.  The Report was received.

The Treasurer’s Audited Report (Copy on file) and previously placed on each chair was opened for comment and acceptance. A question was raised on where did NNA obtain their funding and Treasurer replied that it came annually from Peterborough City Council and was determined by the number of houses in the NNA area.    There being no further questions the Report was accepted.

In accordance with the Constitution all Officers and Committee Members resigned.  Mr. Ken Thompson invited Mr. Matthew Dalton to conduct the 2008/9 election of Officers and Committee.

As was anticipated by Mr. Dalton there was the usual reluctance of residents to put them selves forward for election and he asked previously resigned Officers and Committee if they were willing to be nominated and seconded for re-election.

Two previous Members did not wish nomination and two were absent.  The remainder formally accepted nomination, proposed, seconded and were, by show of hands, elected as follows:-

It was accepted that if a Vice Chairman was needed he or she could be elected in Committee and only for that meeting.

PC Jackman and PCSO Waldron gave a presentation of  their policing activities and percentage statistics of crime in our area which, fortunately, were low.  A much more detailed report would be given at the next Police Panel Meeting on 22 October in Jack Hunt School.   

The Chairman welcomed and introduced Ms Angela Broekhuizen, Director Health Investment Plan Project Office, of the Acute Hospital on the Edith Cavell Site.

Ms. Broekhuizen gave a 30/40 minute power-point presentation  explaining in detail design and construction progress from day one up to the present day and then into the future.   Her presentation was very well received and residents greatly appreciated her professional proactive approach to an obviously huge and exceeding difficult project.
