NETHERTON NEIGHBOURHOOD ASSOCIATION comments on

Read my letter to
the Planning Officer, Peterborough City Council, regarding NNA's views
regarding the amalgamation of the
newsagents and closing Thresher Off Licence into a convenience store at 3,
Winslow Road, Netherton.

It looks as though
heat is coming into the planning application for the 'merging' of the off
licence into the newsagents and post office. The Committee at their last
meeting did NOT raise the matter although they were informed. There was
some conversation but no positive Minute. There is a remote possibility
that residents should be concerned about the merging - does it mean that
the beer, wine etc licence permission will now transfer to the proposed new
convenience shop or store. This movement is not a planning matter but a
subject for the Licensing Authority so, I believe, we must watch for a
transfer or a cessation of licence. Residents can, of course, raise the
matter if they so wish, and it may have some bearing upon the application -
think of cars, noise, kids drinking, neon signs and so on.
